- The Essex County Farm to WIC Collective, developed through a FHEC working group, is collaborating to make more NJ-grown produce available in communities this harvest season!
- Who? All local and satellite WIC offices in Essex County, along with a network of local and urban growers.
- Goal? To ensure WIC participants experience dignity, convenience, and choice when redeeming benefits, while strengthening connections to fresh, locally grown produce. By fostering collaboration among local and urban growers, market managers, and community partners, we aim to expand opportunities for growers who accept WIC and SNAP benefits, enhance program coordination, and build a more resilient, equitable local food economy that benefits families and farmers alike.
- What they’re doing? Bringing farmers markets directly to local WIC offices, June – November 2026, welcoming families to purchase produce with FMNP vouchers, SNAP and WIC benefits, and Good Food Bucks.
